BULAN LAB — ASTANA, KAZAKHSTAN
The Lab
A physical engineering lab where systems go from concept to prototype to field test. Six active capability areas. Hardware-first development culture. Education programs for the next generation of engineers.
01 — CAPABILITIES
What we can build here
Rapid Prototyping
FDM and resin 3D printing for functional engineering parts. Same-day iteration on structural fit-and-function tests. First builds are for data, not presentations.
Electronics & Embedded
Custom PCB design, embedded firmware development, sensor integration, and power wiring for UAV and robotics platforms. Full electrical stack from schematic to tested board.
Composite Fabrication
Hand layup and vacuum bagging of carbon fiber structural components. Airframes, enclosures, and mounting hardware requiring high strength-to-weight performance.
System Assembly & Integration
Full system assembly from sub-components to integrated test units. Includes fixture design, alignment tooling, and methodical subsystem validation before full assembly.
AI & Computer Vision
Training and deploying custom vision models on embedded hardware. Object detection, thermal analysis, and real-time tracking for UAV and autonomous system pipelines.
Drone Flight Testing
Structured test programs for UAV platforms: hover stability, payload performance, range, and autonomy mode validation in both indoor and open-field environments.
02 — BUILD PROCESS
How we work
Requirement
Every build starts with a clearly defined operational requirement — not a feature list.
Design
CAD-first design. All geometry is checked against weight targets, stress loads, and manufacturability.
Prototype
First hardware in days. Prototypes are test vehicles, not presentation props.
Test
Structured pass/fail test criteria. Failures are data points, not setbacks.
Iterate
The cycle repeats until the system meets deployment criteria. No soft launches.
03 — EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER
Training & Community Programs
BULAN Lab provides technical training in response to requests from schools, universities, companies, and individuals. Training covers UAV operations, mapping workflows, AI, and robotics — with emphasis on safe operation, local regulations, and responsible use.
